Sunday 19th July saw Inverkeithing Intrepid students visit Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife for a Karting day. We all arrived expecting it to be fairly quiet, but Knockhill was hosting the
4th Scottish Speedfair & Classic Festival. As a result the venue was very lively with all manner of classic cars, fast cars, bikes and even a fantastic bi-plane aeronautical display.
After a briefing from the Knockhill staff, the adult group got into race gear, and proceeded to their allocated karts. After a tentative start everyone began to push their karts to the limit (and their nerves) to see if they could go any faster. This worked sometimes … and sometimes not – which resulted in some spectacular spins.
After nearly 50 laps, it was time for the adult group to make way for the juniors who set out to show them how it should be done.
Everyone had a fantastic day, and we’d all like to thank Mr. Derek West for doing all the organisation for the event! Best Lap times of the day:
